The paradise flycatchers, Terpsiphone, are a genus of monarch flycatchers.

The Carnivore experience is a truly African adventure.

Our recently completed Deluxe Superior rooms are set in the new section of the property amid water features and natural vegetation. 

Each room is equipped with a telephone, satellite television and tea and coffee-making facilities. 
The rooms consist of a bedroom area (with Twin or Double Beds), an en-suite bathroom (bath and shower) and a small working/dressing area. 

Two of the rooms are wheelchair friendly.

Waiters circulate wielding Masaai spears with at least 15 types of game & domestic meats, ranging from beef, chicken, boerewors and lamb to ostrich, kudu and crocodile, to name just a few—all charcoal-grilled and expertly carved directly onto your hot cast-iron plate. 

Traditional “pap” and chakalaka sauce, and a baked potato accompany this “Beast of a Feast”.

Steve Roup, who is known as “Steve Guns” inside the Recreation Africa group, is our militaria consultant. 

He scours the world for relevant pieces and has supervised the acquisitions as well as the display.

The Summerhouse....

A picturesque venue for elegant dining, the Summerhouse Restaurant features wooden floors and large windows overlooking beautiful botanical gardens and can accommodate up to 130 guests.

Accommodation at Misty Hills is the last word in comfort and elegance. 

Each of our 199 stone-built thatched rooms and suites is furnished to complement the indigenous surroundings and lavishly decorated with brightly coloured African fabrics, artworks and handmade furniture.

Mud as a form of skin care was adopted by the ancients after paying careful attention to the activities of the animals, especially elephants. 

They noticed how these great creatures would roll around in certain areas in order to cover themselves with this reddish clay dust.
They also noticed how protected the animals were from the sun, heat and all the nasty bush pests, as well as how healthy their skins were.

The clever ancients began applying this magic mud to their own skins and the rest, as they say, is history!
The Muti Mud ritual has survived through the ages and is still prescribed by African healers as a skin treatment today.

Muti Mud clay is located in the oldest volcanic mountain range known to man.
This area of South Africa was recently proclaimed as an ancestral Heritage site and has been home to many well-known African healers.
Sangomas still pass through the region to gain knowledge and experience and to source the herbs, plants and Muti Mud. Many African tribes still buy this mud from traditional healers and they not only use it on their bodies for healing and protection, but the women in particular, can often be seen wearing Muti Mud as make-up on their faces.

Thanks to volcanic deposits which occurred millions of years ago, this amazing mud contains many minerals, including manganese, iron, copper, calcium and zinc. When combined with other herbal ingredients and essential oils, Muti Mud penetrates the skin, leaving it silky soft, moisturised and energised.

"Banting has become synonymous with the Tim Noakes Diet which refers to going on a high fat, low carbohydrate diet. 

In time the term to 'bant' was introduced into the English language. It referred to the use of this low carbohydrate diet for weight loss.

It is the carbs that drive overconsumption of calories and once they are removed from the diet, the brain of most people will normally adjust very quickly and their weight loss will begin very quickly.

Some people do less well on a high protein diet than on a high fat diet but for some a higher protein diet is better"

There are some 160 species as well as recently spotted pygmy kingfishers.
